Álvaro Obregón to Become Knowledge and Innovation Hub

The Álvaro Obregón Municipality is on the path to becoming the epicenter of knowledge generation and innovation. To achieve this goal, rectors and directors from 19 higher education institutions have come together to formally establish the High-Level University Cluster, an initiative driven by the Mayor of Álvaro Obregón, Javier López Casarián.

This is a meeting point where experiences and knowledge will be shared, and the talent and capabilities of each institution will be combined to translate it into actions with a positive impact on society. The Rector of Anáhuac Mexico University, Cipriano Sánchez, emphasized the importance of joining efforts to improve the community.

"We strive for Álvaro Obregón to be the engine of transformation and innovation for Mexico City. In terms of student population, we are talking about 294,816 students who spend more time in educational facilities than in their homes," said the Rector.

The general director of IPN, Luis Sandoval, described this initiative as unique and highlighted that it will enhance the capabilities of educational institutions. For his part, Deputy Eruviel Ávila praised the work led by Mayor López Casarián and underscored the importance of this collaboration among higher education institutions.

The University Cluster includes the participation of important institutions such as Anáhuac Mexico Sur University, Tec de Monterrey Santa Fe, Ibero-American University, UNAM, among others. The Mayor announced that the first projects derived from this initiative include the launch of a nanosatellite, the construction of a synchrotron, and the creation of a high-tech laboratory.

In conclusion, Álvaro Obregón stands out for housing the main higher education institutions in Mexico City and the country, both public and private, showing a clear commitment to knowledge generation and innovation for the benefit of society.
